Gingerbread Fun

Gingerbread has taken over the Red Tie Teddy classroom!  There are many versions of the traditional gingerbread man story and it’s been fun reading them throughout the week.  Many of this week’s academic centers were gingerbread themed as well. With hula hoops and picture cards, the children were able to create a Venn diagram to compare and contrast two of the gingerbread stories.  They also had fun measuring each other with gingerbread men cut outs and creating a class book to report their heights. What a sweet way to strengthen math and literacy skills!

Preparing for Christmas

Students at the Preschool are being introduced to the beautiful traditions of Advent as it is celebrated in our Catholic faith. Recently the 4 year old Blue Tie Teddy class gathered around the Advent wreath in the church. The children have learned the significance of the four candles that mark the weeks that lead up to the birth of the Christ Child and have been singing songs to celebrate the Advent season. Their teachers are helping these young children take the beginning steps on their faith journey. Through song and ritual we hope to plant the seed of the true meaning of Christmas!

Little Engineers

The 4 year old Panda Class had so much fun with this building challenge! The students were given straws, Legos, and playdough to use while building their own creations. It was fascinating to watch their little minds at work.  They discovered that the straws fit into the holes of the Legos and the playdough could make everything stick together. This led to building towers, magic wands, and even some miniature cities. With all the creative creations we observed, there are surely some future engineers in the Panda Class!

Happy Thanksgiving!
