Molly DeAngelo (Director)

Molly DeAngelo (Ms. Molly) has a Masters in Elementary Education and a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Virginia. She is licensed in Elementary Education with an additional certification in PreK. She taught 3rd and 4th grade for 4 years before coming to Saint Raphael Preschool in 2006, teaching 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds for 10 years before becoming director. Her twin boys are both alumni of the preschool.

“Our family has lived in Raleigh since 2003. In my free time I enjoy reading and cheering for the Carolina Hurricanes. I love working at Saint Raphael Preschool because the staff and families support each other to create such a loving, educational environment for children to grow and learn. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing children excited about learning!”

B.J. Cady (Administrative Assistant)

B.J. Cady earned her Associates Degree in Data Processing at Phillips Junior College (Mississippi). She worked at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute for over 20 years as a Purchasing Processor, eventually obtaining the position of Certified Purchasing Manager. When she and her husband, Mike, were blessed with a beautiful baby boy in 2007 she became a stay at home mom. She and her son, Matthew, were regulars at the St. Raphael Friday Play Group and she was also involved with Mother’s in Faith. Matthew is an alumnus of St. Raphael Preschool and currently attends the SRCS.

“Coming back to St. Raphael Preschool felt like coming home again. Everyone here is so warm and caring. I am looking forward to getting to know each child and family. This opportunity is truly a blessing for me and my family. In my free time I enjoy spending time at the beach, going on camping adventures and reading.”

Sarah Rapp (Marketing & Enrollment Coordinator)

Sarah Rapp graduated from Virginia Tech with a BA in Public Relations in May 2015. While at Virginia Tech, she completed a Marketing internship with the Montgomery County Public School district in Christiansburg, VA where she created a visual budget website. She also developed a marketing plan for the Virginia Tech Police Department to advocate for a safety campaign on campus. Here, Sarah’s role is to promote our Preschool in the community, communicate with enrolled families about ongoing activities, and excite prospective families about Saint Raphael Preschool.

To have the opportunity to play a small role in our children’s first experiences “away from home” is a dream come true! I look forward to creating excitement in parents and children while innovating strategies for communication. I’m looking forward to all the “lightbulb moments” and discoveries associated with this special time in each child’s life and sharing it with families.

Rebecca Beck (Teacher)

Rebecca Beck (Ms. Becky) has a Masters of Education in School Counseling from the University of Delaware and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Gettysburg College. She is a licensed Elementary School Counselor. Ms. Becky was a School Counselor for Durham Public Schools, Director of Special Programs for Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council, and most recently a third grade Teaching Assistant at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. She is the mom of Tucker and Cole, both alumni of the preschool. Ms. Becky spent a lot of time volunteering at the preschool when both her boys attended, and has volunteered as the preschool Vacation Bible School teacher at her church.

“I still remember my first time dropping my oldest son off at the Red Puppies class. I was a nervous mom, but I knew that we were at the right place! St. Raphael Preschool has a special place in my heart, and I am so excited to be working here. My two sons still talk about their days at preschool. The teachers and staff made a huge impact on their lives! I feel so blessed to be working in this nurturing and enlightening environment!”

Lindsey Burke (Teacher/Extended Day Math & Science Teacher)

Lindsey Burke (Ms. Lindsey) is currently working towards her B.S. in Elementary Education from East Carolina University. She expects to earn her degree and teaching license in December of 2017. She has earned her A.A in Early Childhood Education and holds the Early Childhood Credential. Before coming to St. Raphael this year, she had spent 4 years teaching preschool.

“I truly enjoy teaching the preschool age! The children share in one another’s success, and have such enthusiasm to learn. I am thrilled to be part of the wonderful staff here at St. Raphael Preschool. In my spare time I enjoy coaching soccer, baking, and all things Disney, especially Mickey Mouse!”

April Haas (Teacher)

April Haas (Ms. April) has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University. Prior to her employment at Saint Raphael Preschool in 2012, April taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grades for 5 years. Her license is in Elementary Education. April has two daughters, both of whom are alumnae of the Preschool.

“My family has been a part of the Saint Raphael community since we moved to Raleigh in 2003. My children are Preschool alumni and now attend SRCS. I have always loved how the community makes you feel like a part of the family. I feel very blessed to now have a more integral role in making the magic happen. My family deeply appreciates the faith-based, family oriented education that Saint Raphael provides. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends.”

Jennifer Hyatt (Teacher)


Jennifer Hyatt (Ms. Jennifer) has her B.S. in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and holds a certification in School Social Work. Her experience includes serving as a school social worker in Guilford County. Before coming to the Saint Raphael to teach our 2-year-olds in 2012 she had most recently spent 3 years teaching preschool.

“My family and I moved here to Raleigh in 2006.  My husband and I have a daughter and 2 Schnauzer dogs.  In my free time, I love being with my family and friends, going for walks, and taking in a good comedy show from time to time.  I have really enjoyed working with children of all ages for the past 20 years and wouldn’t feel complete without them in my life.”

Lisa Kinlaw (Teacher)


Lisa Kinlaw (Ms. Kinlaw) has a Masters of Arts in Leadership in Teaching from Notre Dame of Maryland University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre for Youth from Shenandoah University. Ms. Kinlaw taught in the Archdiocese of Washington for seven years before staying at home full time with her children. This past year she worked in Family Programs at Finley YMCA. Ms. Kinlaw has volunteered at her church in the Faith Formation program as well as assisting with Vacation Bible School. For the past three years, she has volunteered as an instructor with Swim America.

“I am so excited to be returning to teaching after staying at home with my four girls for the past ten years. After searching for the perfect place for me to teach and a program that fits well for my youngest daughter, Mary, I am thrilled to have found that special place at Saint Raphael Preschool.”

Ellen McAuliffe (Teacher)

Ellen McAuliffe (Ms. McAuliffe) has her Masters from Boston College and her B.A. from Spalding University (Louisville, KY). Before coming on staff at Saint Raphael Preschool in 1986 to teach 4-year-olds, she served as a middle and high school reading resource teacher and a primary school language arts and social studies teacher. Two of her three daughters attended the Preschool and her two grandsons are alumni as well!

“More than twenty five years is a long time to teach at the same school, but when I started working at Saint Raphael Preschool I knew I had found a special place. The Preschool has a staff that supports each other, shares ideas and works to create a unique experience where childhood is honored and parents are welcomed as partners in the education of their children. Together we all form a close, caring school family that distinguishes St. Raphael as an outstanding place to learn and work.”

Kathryn Scialdone (Teacher/Extended Day Drama & Art Teacher)

Kathryn Scialdone (Ms. Kathryn) has B.A.s in Theater and English from Appalachian State University and holds an NC teaching license. She taught for over ten years in Wake County Public Schools and, prior to that, worked on the staff of the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. She also assisted in theTeens On Stage program for Raleigh Little Theatre. In the years her son attended the Preschool, Ms Kathryn was a frequent volunteer both in the classroom and serving as chair of the Puppetry Committee. 

“St. Raphael Preschool is like a family tradition for me.  My mom started working here 30 years ago and her tenure is still going strong in the Blue Tie Teddy classroom.  Both my sisters, now in their thirties, went to preschool here and my son and nephew just finished their preschool years here last year.  And now, here I am teaching in the classroom as well as art and drama in our after school program. There’s no better compliment that I can give to SRP than to say each day I come to work, it feels like home.”

Kim Simmons (Teacher)

Kim Simmons (Ms. Kim) holds a B.S. in Marine Biology from the Florida Institute of Technology. Before moving to Raleigh she worked for The College of William & Mary (Williamsburg, VA) doing research and educational tours at The Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). Kim has been an active member of the Saint Raphael Catholic community since arriving in Raleigh in 2001. One of her favorite ways to share her time was serving as a Faith Formation Catechist for 2-5 year olds and First Grade. Kim and her husband have four children, all of whom are Preschool alumni. Since working at the preschool, Kim has earned the Early Childhood Credential.

“A lot has changed in education in the last fifteen years, but one thing that will never change is that each child is a unique person of God. Each child is truly a blessing, and I feel honored to be a small part of their day. Our Preschool staff and families partner together to make each child’s experience here a great one! This is truly an environment where your child’s mind, heart and spirit will be nurtured and respected.” 

Margaret Smith (Teacher)

Margaret Smith (Ms. Margaret) is originally from Greenville, NC. She graduated with a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from East Carolina University and taught kindergarten and remedial reading in the public school system for five years. She came to Saint Raphael Preschool in 2000 to teach 3-year-olds.

“When I first came to the Preschool I thought this would be a good school to work at for a couple of years. More than a decade later I admit I was wrong; it’s a great school! It is a privilege to work with such a professional and talented staff, supportive parents and great students!When I am not at the Preschool I enjoy traveling, touring historic homes and spending time with my family. My husband and I love calling Raleigh home.”

Amy Vancura (Teacher)

Amy Vancura (Ms. Amy)earned her BA in Elementary Education from UNC Chapel Hill. She holds an Elementary Education teaching license with additional ESL licensure. Her teaching career began in Carrboro City School system where she taught Kindergarten for two years years. Amy then went on to teach ESL and Kindergarten in Harnett County. She is the mother of Mia (a preschool alum) and Anthony, a current Eagle.

“I knew from the moment we walked in the door to tour that St. Raphael Preschool would be a special place for our family. The school has such a loving, positive vibe and right away we felt welcomed into the community. I’m so excited to be part of such a supportive and giving staff. Reading, running, and yoga are three of my favorite things to do!”

Susan Brand (Music Teacher)

Susan Brand has many years experience as a Music teacher and has been at the Preschool since 2004. She also taught K-8 Music at SRCS. She graduated from Mercy College with a major in Sociology and a minor in Music. Susan is a certified Kindermusic teacher and is a member of NCMEA and NAfME. She has three children, one of whom is an alumnus of the Preschool and two who attended the SRCS.

“When we moved to Raleigh in 2002 our first priority was to find schools for our three children. After my first visit, I knew Saint Raphael Preschool was a perfect match for our youngest son. Soon after, I joined the staff and have been here ever since! I am so fortunate to work in such a nurturing, loving, environment. It is truly a very, special place. In my free time, I enjoy gardening and raising our chickens and honeybees.”

Terri Harbin (Catechist)

Terri Harbin (Ms. Terri) has a B.A. in Elementary Education from UNC Charlotte. She has taught elementary school at St. Thomas More in Chapel Hill and in the Wake County Public Schools. Ms. Terri became certified in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for ages 3-6 in 2001 and brought the program to St. Raphael’s Preschool in 2002. Ms. Terri also has interests in special needs, including autism and ADHD. She has been a parishioner at St. Raphael’s since moving to Raleigh in 2001 where she lives with her husband, Matt, and three children. Click here to read about the CGS program at the preschool.

“I’m excited to be returning to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program at St. Raphael Preschool. God never ceases to amaze me how He works in even the youngest minds and hearts. My faith life is enriched by sharing the experience of reading Scripture and contemplating its truths with young children. The environment and materials are designed especially to draw the child closer to God. So as a guide, it is as Scripture says, “He must increase, I must decrease.” The children grow to love coming to God on their own in the specially prepared environment of the Atrium. I love to be there to witness it.”

Pierrette Sadler (Creative Movement Teacher)

Pierrette Sadler’s training has been in Ballet and Dance. She owned and operated her own dance studio in Raleigh (Pierrette Sadler Danceurs) for nearly 30 years. In that time she has exposed countless children, including the blind and handicapped, to the joys and benefits of creative movement and dance. She is an enthusiastic advocate for keeping children physically active and has presented at numerous conferences and workshops. Ms. Sadler has two grown children, two beloved grandchildren and several cats and dogs. Her hobbies include gardening, long hikes and reading about history. She loves natural science and often brings in live insects and other critters for the children to observe and mimic in dance. She has been employed at Saint Raphael Preschool since 2007.

“What a joy it has been to work with teachers and staff who care so much for their students and each other. I am blessed to have such wonderful co-workers. I am equally blessed to have such great students who love to move!”

Tabitha Davis (Assistant)

Tabitha Davis (Ms. Tabitha) attended Wake Tech Community College and attained her Associate of Arts Degree. She holds the Early Childhood Credential and has worked in the field of early childhood for eleven years. Currently she is working on attaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (Birth to Kindergarten).

“I’m very excited to be joining the St. Raphael Preschool Family. Working with children is a passion of mine; seeing them grow and become confident in their abilities and skills is very rewarding. In my free time I enjoy reading, crafts, baking and exploring our beautiful state of North Carolina.”

Diane Grimaldi (Assistant and Extended Day Monitor)

Diane Grimaldi (Ms. Diane) came to North Carolina in 1996 while working as a sales manager. For many years she worked at the Discovery Kids Preschool at the YMCA, where she started by assisting in the 2 year olds and eventually became the lead teacher in that classroom. She began working at St. Raphael Preschool in 2016. She is also an active volunteer in the preschool department of her church. Ms. Diane is happily married with a son in middle school and a daughter in high school.

“I love working at St. Raphael Preschool because the atmosphere is friendly, supportive, and loving. I am excited to be an assistant in the Otters class working with Ms. Lindsey. In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, and camping with my family.”

Teresa Lowe (Assistant)

Teresa Lowe (Ms. Teresa) has served in a number of capacities at the Preschool over the years. She earned her B.A. from Iona College (New York) in International Business with a minor in Spanish. She was first employed at the Preschool in 2003 as a teacher assistant, a position she filled for four years. In that time she attained the Early Childhood Credential and eventually moved into the role of lead classroom teacher.

“My husband and I moved to Raleigh in 1997 with two small children. Saint Raphael Preschool was their first school experience, and it was a blessing for our entire family. As a Preschool parent I volunteered on several committees. It was always fun to work with the teachers and other parents. My favorite committee was the Puppetry Committee. It was very emotional when my youngest child graduated from the Preschool. It felt like I was leaving family. The Saint Raphael Preschool teachers and staff have always opened their hearts to me, shared my burdens and joys. Even though my son and daughter are nearly grown, I still have close friendships with their preschool teachers. Being part of the Preschool staff has been and continues to be so rewarding.”

Lisa McNealy (Assistant)

Lisa McNealy (Ms. Lisa) received an Associates degree in Executive Secretarial from Becker College (Massachusetts). She found her true joy comes from being with children and has been teaching preschoolers for more than 15 years. 

“My husband and I are originally from Massachusetts and moved to Raleigh in 1988. Our son is a graduate of Cardinal Gibbons High School and a current student at Appalachian State. I love to travel with my family to the beach, and I love jigsaw puzzles. I feel very blessed to work with God’s little ones each day, watching them grow and learn here at the preschool.”

Gail Parquette (Assistant)

Gail Parquette (Ms. Gail) attended Hillborough Community College and attained her Associates degree in Business. She holds a Early Childhood Credential and has experience as a substitute teacher in grades K-2.  Her son is an alumnus of the Preschool.

“My husband and I have a son, Jackson, who attended Saint Raphael Preschool for two years. It was pure joy to watch my son grow in faith and knowledge in such a loving environment, so you can imagine how blessed I feel to now be part of the staff at St. Raphael. In our spare time, my family and I enjoy biking and taking walks along the many greenways in Raleigh.” 

Renee Regalia (Assistant)



Renee Regalia (Ms. Renee) earned her B.A. in Child Development from California State College. Before coming to the ECC, she taught Pre-K and served as a day care director. Renee has been employed at Saint Raphael Preschool since 1990, working as a lead teacher with various age groups for more than 15 years of that time and more recently serving in the role of teacher assistant for 4-year-olds. Her grown daughter and son are both Preschool alumni.

“I loved the preschool so much when my children attended that I applied for a job here. I have been at Saint Raphael Preschool since that time. I enjoy baking, crossword puzzles, trying new restaurants, reading and trips to New York City to enjoy a show and dinner with my family. It’s so rewarding to see the children come into the classroom with a smile and go home with a smile—and to receive and give a lot of hugs in between.”

Lauren Peterson (Assistant)

Lauren Peterson (Ms. Lauren) earned her Registered Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy licenses at HoHoKus School of Business and Medical Studies in New Jersey. She worked in the medical field for five years in both Greenville, NC and Lynchburg, VA before moving back to the Raleigh area in 2006, when she became a stay at home mom. Both of her children are alumni of the Preschool. Lauren volunteered here often during the four years her children were enrolled. She served as a substitute teacher and an extra resource helper for two years at St. Raphael Preschool before earning her Early Childhood Credential and becoming a classroom assistant teacher.

Everyone here was so warm and caring, and the preschool still means so much to both of my children, my husband and me. I’m blessed to be able to be part of this wonderful school!”

Kate Welte (Assistant)


Katherine Welte (Ms. Kate) has the proud distinction of having been employed at Saint Raphael Preschool longer than any other staff member—35 years! No clearer indication is needed that Ms. Kate loves what she does! She attended Morehead State University (Kentucky) and later went on to attain the Early Childhood Credential while employed at the preschool. Ms. Kate is musically gifted and expresses her talents as a cantor and a member of both the choir and the handbell choir at the parish. She taught Music and Creative Movement at the preschool for years. More than a decade ago she moved into the role of teacher assitant, although her lucky students still get to share the benefits of her love for music and song. Ms. Kate has three grown children, two of whom attended Saint Raphael Preschool. She has nine grandchildren, five of whom also attended here. Ms. Kate likes to point out that hers is a three generation Saint Raphael Preschool family.

“I truly love what I do and consider the staff at the Saint Raphael Preschool as my extended family. I feel it is a grace to be part of such a wonderful, faith-filled Christian environment. I know God has richly blessed me, and each and every day I continue to sing His praises.”

Marcie Graf (Early Arrival and Extended Day Monitor)


Marcie Graf (Ms. Marcie) earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Communication Disorders from Lousiana State University. She holds an NC license in speech language pathology and worked with children as a speech language pathologist for nearly a decade before coming to the preschool.  Her son and daughter are Preschool alumni and now attend SRCS. She is here bright and early every morning ready to greet with a kind smile those preschool students whose parents need to drop them off before our 9 AM start. 

My husband and I began attending St. Raphael when we moved to Raleigh in 2003, and I immediately loved the welcoming family atmosphere. I felt it again when my children started at the Preschool. It was a wonderful experience as a parent, and is now once again as a staff member.

Donna Johann (Extended Day Monitor)

Donna Johann (Ms. Donna) has a B.S. in Industrial Relations from UNC-Chapel Hill. She has been a Preschool substitute for many years and coordinated the Lunch Bunch program. Both her son and daughter are alumni of the Preschool.

I have been a member of the St. Raphael community since 1980. I was married here and both of my children were baptized here as well. My husband and I are originally from Wisconsin (yes, we are cheeseheads/Packer fans). I enjoy crafts, geneology, gardening and spending time with my family.

I knew the second I walked in, my children were going to attend the Preschool. I loved the warmth and attention of the teachers and staff. I believed so much in the program that once my children “graduated,” I stayed. I feel so blessed to work here, and I truly enjoy the children who walk these halls!

Marla Katz (Extended Day Spanish Teacher and Monitor)

Marla Katz (Ms. Marla) received her Master’s in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University (Miami, FL) after receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Business from SMU (Dallas, TX). Marla started her career with the Miami Marlins, where she helped launch the team’s first ever kids club in addition to working with the team’s community relations program. Marla and her family moved to Raleigh in 2006 and she has been a volunteer in many of her three boys’ schools and sports programs. Her parents are originally from Colombia and Spanish was actually the first language Marla learned.

Our two youngest children both attended Saint Raphael Preschool and it is such a tremendous environment for children to learn and grow. I am excited to be a part of it and help the students become excited about learning a new language! In my spare time, I am often at a field or on a court cheering on our three boys!
